Cathryn Jeff
Workshop: "Applying Acrylic Techniques in Landscapes"
Friday 24th April 10am to 4pm in the Pavilion, Lechlade
Workshop Report
After an excellent demonstration to the Society in February, Cathryn Jeff followed up with an equally professional workshop which dealt with texture in the woodland landscape.
The morning began with Cathryn priming her canvas in fuchsia pink, applying paper and sand to focus the eye in key areas, then painting a speedy, accomplished scene for us to aspire to.
Students came with their own images and the fun began immediately. Textures were glued to canvases and vivid paint colours selected. With gentle guidance, Cathryn gave her attention to everyone in turn; for example, telling them where more darks were required or where particular areas were a success.
After lunch, and a demonstration of applying paint with a sponge to create foliage and flowers, the student's paintings were completed. Everyone went home with a picture to be proud of.
