SIMON SONSINO (April 2019):
Simon Sonsino is a British calligrapher, textual artist and international selling author who specialises in abstract expressionist art using calligraphy and all aspects of letterform. Textual Art highlights just one aspect of his creative output, as together with his wife Yvonne, he recently took over Ardington School in Oxfordshire which provides an outlet for creative pursuits including everything from ceramics to writing.  He now teaches Textual Art at the school.

Simon is always looking to enhance his art and evolve his style by researching different media, recently exploring gestural calligraphy under the watchful eye of Yves Leterme. Other world-renowned calligraphers h
e has studied with including Gaynor Goffe, Peter Thornton, Yukimi Annand, Satwinder Sehmi and Gemma Black. His 'go-to' influence is the work by Thomas Ingmire but he pays attention to any artist who creates works with aesthetic impact. The open-days and workshops at Simon’s studio in the UK have seen hundreds of students and visitors getting to grips with his unique vision of textual art in the 21st century. He also works alongside local artists to help introduce letterform into their chosen medium, such as textiles and clay.

Because of his unique style and approach, Simon is regularly called on as a demonstrator, speaker and workshop leader, notably for the largest arts festival of its kind in Europe: Art In Action (2015 & 2016). Call or contact us for all enquiries for speaking and demonstrations.
