Brian Britton
After teaching junior and secondary pupils, and training student teachers I retired to focus on my own work, painting and drawing, creating bas-relief sculptures, and especially relief printmaking. I have been fortunate in acquiring two Victorian printing presses over the years which have enabled me to develop my work and continue giving lessons to adult artists.
In recent years my inspiration for my prints has focused on the landscapes of Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, and the buildings, animals and plants that are to be found here.
I enjoy using a variety of techniques, including wood cut, wood engraving, lino and vinyl cutting, collograph and monoprinting. All these processes demand different approaches and present specific problems and outcomes that need to be resolved using a synthesis of Fine Art and Design.
