Painting Days
Painting Days are arranged for several dates each year in the area around Lechlade. We choose venues which offer some indoor cover, incase the weather does not cooperate, and with facilities to prepare drinks, have some lunch and socialise. Sometimes a cafe is available. The day begins at 10.00am and we often work until 4.00pm, especially if the weather is good. Recent favourite locations have included Buscot Park, Buscot village, Coleshill and members' gardens.
Visit to Nature in Art (near Gloucester) on Tuesday 2nd September 2025
Thanks to Zoe Hing for taking the photographs and writing the report.

This visit was a new initiative for members and took place at the start of September. The venue was a former Edwardian shooting lodge set in its own grounds near to Gloucester. The building is now dedicated to housing a substantial collection of art and sculpture which is on show in five dedicated showrooms and the sculpture park. The centre highlights work that is of worldwide renown and in a variety of media including paintings both modern and old, photography, textiles, ceramics and glassware to name but a few.
Ten members visited and spent an hour or so viewing the comprehensive collection, much of which is unique. We came away marveling at such an eclectic collection of work. The centre has a dedicated studio which is used by visiting artists who demonstrate their work and engage with the public. There is also a large well-equipped studio for general use and courses for the public. The studio had been reserved for us and we had a most enjoyable two hours drawing a large still-life using home-made bamboo pens and Indian ink inspired by a recent [July 2025] demonstration by Gemma Hastilow.
We all enjoyed our visit to view the collection and the surroundings. This is a venue that we hope to use again as it offers a unique opportunity to explore the work of leading artists and work creatively together.

Painting Day at Buscot Park 2025
Once again Lord Faringdon kindly agreed to the Society using the gardens and grounds of Buscot Park for a painting day on Monday 11th August. This was an opportunity for members to enjoy this beautiful venue. The day started at 10am and finished at 4pm. Coffee and tea was available in the kitchen and members brought their own picnic. The weather was hot and sunny so shady places were very popular. Thanks to Bob Marchant for taking the photographs.

Painting Days organised in 2024
The following painting day took place in 2024. This event was organised by Brian Britton in conjunction with the Lechlade Photographic Society. Unfortunately it was a very wet day and even the hardiest had decided to pack up and go home by 11.30am!
