Christmas Lunch at Wrag Barn Golf Club, Highworth
Friday December 10th 2021, 1200 for 1230
Over fifty members and their guests enjoyed an excellent three course christmas lunch.
The sun shone brilliantly throughout into the large upstairs dining room with panoramic views of the golf course, so brilliantly infact that the curtains had to be drawn during the meal. Despite a little confusion about the start time (1200 for 1230, or 1230 for 1300), all were seated and eating by 1pm; the staff at Wrag Barn coped superbly!
The main course was a carvery, which was novel after 20 months of the restrictive Covid 19 eating-out experience, and really enjoyable. Diners could help themselves to as much (or as little) food as they wanted, and choose from eight dishes of lovely vegetables. The well-stocked bar provided all that was needed in the way of drinks to supplement the complimentary welcome drink on arrival. Brian Britton thanked the Wrag Barn staff on behalf of all of us, and gave very special thanks to Sharon Ellis for all the hard work involved in organising this event entirely on her own - not an easy task with the uncertainty of Covid and pleasing everyone with the menu choice!
