Clive gave an impressive demonstration using only his hand to move and press the pastel into a sand coloured paper. He had a very comprehensive range of colours to choose from and always knew which colour to use and exactly where to put - which amazed the attentive audience of nearly 30 members. Clive also used pastel pencils and demonstrated in the margin of his picture how to choose the best colour and stroke for the desired effect. He explained every step of building up the picture while actually doing it which kept the attention of the audience throughout.
From Clive's website:
Clive Eastland lives and works in Newbury, Berkshire. He has been a professional artist for the past twenty years and enjoys painting a wide range of subjects from landscapes and seascapes to still lifes. Born in 1962, Clive started painting in watercolour as a child but now primarily works in pastel. Using the richness and vivid colour of pastel, he captures the elusive quality of light to create an atmospheric and evocative image.
