Sallie Seymour
Studied at the old Cheltenham School of Art in the 50’s and then worked in decorative ceramics until mid 60’s. Put aside Art as a living but kept brushes wet by designing and painting sets for local amateur productions. Began painting again as a living in the late 70’s, exhibited and sold at many local galleries and Cirencester Craft Market. Also taught Adult Education for Wiltshire and Oxfordshire, a founder member of Fairford Art Society, instigator of the late Creative Women group, and for 5 years ran the Filkins Gallery with Wendy Robinson. Another long break for family reasons, during which time developed and perfected her decoupage skills. Began painting again in 2002, but after each long absence comes the Herculean task of getting back lost skills.
ainting is not like getting back on the bike again, it takes time to rediscover. Most of my life has been around art and craft and I try to paint most days, even if it is only for an hour.
